Overview
When working from Playbooks for Outlook, you have noticed that there are not always notifications triggered when tracked attachments are opened.
- If you are not getting notifications at all, check the Not Receiving Email Notifications From Playbooks KB Article.
Information
This behavior is observed when the attachment sent is not a proper tracked attachment but a traditional attachment inserted using standard Outlook controls instead.
In order to get notifications, the attachment must be inserted using Playbooks. To Track an Attachment, complete the following steps:
- Open the Microsoft Outlook Application.
- Click New Email.
- Place your cursor where you want to insert the Tracked Attachment.
- In the new email window, click Templates.
- Click the Add Attachment button.
If you have created a template in Playbooks that contains the tracked attachment you need, you can also just insert the template and the tracked attachment will be included. As an additional note, the level of info you can get from notifications also varies from email provider to email provider.
For example, you are more likely to get better notifications from someone on Outlook rather than Gmail.
Because some email clients block tracking pixels and the same prospects may open emails from different computers or devices, email tracking is not an exact science.
If you want to test the notifications with your own personal emails, make sure to open the emails you sent yourself on a computer other than your work computer since you've added your device to the do not track list in the Playbooks extension.
